About Bat Advice
Bat in Flight

This website was developed after my experience with bats living in the attic of my home. Having bats in my attic did not bother me too much because I know of the beneficial nature of bats. After waking up a few times to the sound of bats flapping in our bedroom at 3:00am my wife's opinion about the bats in the attic was quite different.

As with most things, I decided to look on the Internet to find a way to get rid of my bat problem. While there was a good deal of information about bats and bat exclusion on the Internet, it seemed to me everyone had an agenda. The bat removal companies would have you believe that the brown bat is a vicious killer just waiting to infect you with every disease known to mankind. The conservationists seemed to completely ignore any negative effects of bats such as smell of bat guano or the small risk of disease when a bat enters a living space.

As I searched the Internet it became apparent that reliable information about bats removal was difficult to find at best. I did learn quite a bit about bats and began to respect them for their benefits to nature as well as their tenacity for foiling many of my bat exclusion attempts. With this in mind, there are three primary purposes for this website:

1. Provide clear, concise and unbiased advice about bats inhabiting human dwellings including effective exclusion and removal methods.

2. Educate the public about the benefits of bats to increase conservation and respect for the bat population.

3. Share effective methods for DIY bat exclusion and relocation.
